The Florida Bar

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

The Bar Examination consists of two parts: Part A and Part B.

Part A:

Part A consists of 3 essay questions and 100 multiple choice questions
Part A: Tuesday Morning – 3 hours to answer 3 Florida essay questions
Tuesday Afternoon – 3 hours to answer 100 Florida multiple-choice questions

You have 1.8 minutes to answer each question
The questions on Part A should be answered in accordance with Florida law.

Part B:

Part B is the Multistate Bar Examination (MBE) which consists of 200 multiple choice questions
Part B: Wednesday morning – 3 hours to answer 100 multiple choice questions
Wednesday afternoon – 3 hours to answer 100 multiple choice questions

You have 1.8 minutes to answer each question.

Applicants must achieve a passing score on each part taken. A scaled score of 136 on each section is passing.

“Individual” Method

The Individual Method (taking only one part of the Exam -Part B MBE) may be used by applicants taking the examination for the first time. You would need a scaled score of 136 on Part B to pass. You may take Part A at the next sitting of the Bar exam. (Very useful alternative for those who are working full time while studying for the Bar.)

For those who only passed one part of the Bar exam; they can choose to retake only the part they failed (which I recommend). You would also need a scaled score of 136 on the part you are taking in order to pass.

“Overall” Method

You successfully pass the Bar Examination if the average of your scores from Part A and Part B was at least 136!
